2020 and 2021 were memorable years beyond just the COVID-19 Pandemic. As attorneys, we have seen data privacy step out of the shadowy legal silos into developed and overarching laws and regulations.

Starting with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), many naysayers believed data privacy would keep its “siloed” status in the US (i.e. healthcare, finance, children’s data). However, states like California, Virginia, and Colorado have recently created overarching data privacy laws that affect organizations across every business vertical.
