Insurance

Clients of Gibbons’s Insurance Coverage Team rely on our depth of experience and practical, up-to-date advice to achieve their objectives and resolve business-related insurance coverage disputes efficiently and effectively. We also assist clients in obtaining appropriate insurance coverage to optimally manage the myriad risks that may impact their business.

Our counsel spans a broad range of complex insurance claims:

  • General liability claims for bodily injury and property damage
  • Employment Practices liability claims
  • Construction and construction defect liability claims
  • D&O and fiduciary liability claims
  • Bad faith and extra contractual liability
  • Business interruption claims
  • Cyber liability claims
  • Errors and Omissions and other professional liability claims

We are regularly retained to provide insurance coverage advice to a wide variety of clients, including pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturing companies, utility companies, educational institutions, financial services companies, technology companies, professional service providers, construction companies, transportation companies, public relations firms, and government agencies. We have, for example, successfully mediated the resolution of a construction defect claim against a condominium association’s insurer, concluded a settlement for a financial services client on a claim arising out of fraudulent activity by one of its former brokers, and represented a global chemical products manufacturer in an environmental insurance coverage matter.

The Gibbons Insurance Coverage Team benefits from the leadership of John Wolak, who for more than 25 years has litigated matters involving hundreds of millions of dollars in insurance coverage, and has provided strategic counseling and analysis of potential risks and exposures, policy terms and conditions, and claims resolution. He has been listed as an “Insurance Lawyer of the Year” (Newark, NJ) by Best Lawyers® and selected for the New Jersey Super Lawyers list for Insurance Law.
