Frank T. Cannone, Chair of the Gibbons P.C. Corporate Group, and Lisa Lombardo, Director in the Gibbons Commercial & Criminal Litigation Group and member of the Construction Law & Litigation Team, have been selected as 2022 “Leaders in Law” by NJBIZ, one of New Jersey’s premier business news publications. Winners were honored at a ceremony on May 24 at The Palace at Somerset Park in Somerset, New Jersey and will be profiled in a special supplement to an upcoming issue of NJBIZ.

NJBIZ launched the Leaders in Law program in 2021 to celebrate law firm attorneys and general counsel for their outstanding dedication to their occupation and communities. Following an open nomination period, honorees were chosen by a panel of independent judges with experience in the justice system.

At Gibbons, Mr. Cannone’s legal practice is focused on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, early-stage and emerging growth, and corporate and securities law. He has extensive experience representing clients in connection with public and private capital raising, private equity, venture capital, mergers and acquisitions (in middle-market transactions), public-private partnerships/government transactions, alternative energy finance, corporate healthcare, venture capital transactions, and cross-border transactions. Since joining the firm, he has built and led the Corporate Group to nearly 1,000 transactions, totaling billions of dollars in value.

Under Mr. Cannone’s leadership, the Corporate Group has become known for its complex work and strong capital markets-based approach to corporate practice, making it unique among New Jersey-headquartered firms. Mr. Cannone has also expanded the services and value-added offerings of the Corporate Group, now one of the region’s top corporate practices. For these and other accomplishments, Mr. Cannone was inducted in 2021 into the Seton Hall Stillman School of Business Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurship’s Hall of Fame, which honors the most successful innovators and change-makers from the broader Seton Hall community. He is listed in Chambers USA, Best Lawyers®, and New Jersey Super Lawyers and on the 2020 ROI-NJ “Influencers Power List: Lawyers.”

Ms. Lombardo’s significant experience in commercial and construction litigation is unique, in that she represents both plaintiffs and defendants. She works with the firm’s longstanding corporate clients in addition to some of the Northeast region’s top universities, healthcare systems, and manufacturers. Unlike most litigators in the construction arena, Ms. Lombardo also has experience drafting and negotiating complex design and construction contracts for projects with values upward of nine figures. She has worked with owners, contractors, and designers on contracts for projects involving academic centers, medical complexes, laboratory facilities, office buildings, public-private partnerships, and building additions of varying sizes. Ms. Lombardo is lead construction counsel for a prominent healthcare system in the tri-state area.

Ms. Lombardo is on the American Arbitration Association (AAA) Panel of Construction Arbitrators and is a member of the AAA’s Roster of Mediators. She is also listed on the New Jersey Superior Court Roster of Mediators. She has been featured on the Morris/Essex Health & Life magazine’s “Essex County Top Lawyers” list for Construction annually since 2018.
