Patrick Dunican Named Seton Hall Law School’s 2011 Distinguished Alumnus

April 19, 2011

Patrick C. Dunican Jr., Chairman and Managing Director of Gibbons P.C., will be honored with the Distinguished Alumnus Award at the Seton Hall Law School Annual Alumni Dinner Dance on April 29, 2011, at the Hilton at Short Hills.

Mr. Dunican is being recognized for his commitment to Seton Hall, the Gibbons law firm, and the broader community. He has served on the Red Mass Committee, Alumni Council, and Adjunct Faculty of Seton Hall Law School and is currently secretary of the school’s Board of Visitors, vice-chair of the Board’s Strategic Planning Committee, and co-chair of the “Seton Hall Law Rising” campaign, launched in 2007 and on target to exceed its $25 million goal upon conclusion in June. Included in this $25 million is the $1 million endowment by Gibbons to establish the Gibbons Institute of Law, Science & Technology. This gift, which is among the largest donations to a law school by a law firm ever, provides funding to assist the law school in educating and training the next generation of attorneys and other professionals in the technology and scientific communities, to address the complex issues they face in the 21st century.

Mr. Dunican’s civic and charitable work extends well beyond Seton Hall. In his role as Chairman and Managing Director of Gibbons, he oversees “Gibbons Cares,” the firm’s philanthropic and pro bono program, which earned the New Jersey Business & Industry Association’s 2010 “Excellence in Public Service” Award. He supervises the firm’s intern and outreach programs with numerous educational institutions in Newark and established the firm’s endowment to help the New Jersey State Bar Foundation (NJSBF) update and redesign its offices. Mr. Dunican also personally supports many signature local institutions, such as the New Jersey Performing Arts Center and New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. He is currently secretary of the NJSBF and a member of the President’s Council of Valley Hospital.
