Patrick C. Dunican Jr., Chairman and Managing Director of Gibbons P.C., was named the Grand Marshal of the Newark Saint Patrick’s Day Parade, stepping off on March 15, 2013. To celebrate this accomplishment, he was invited to throw out the first pitch at the Newark Bears baseball game on July 12, which was Irish Heritage Night at Riverfront Stadium.
Mr. Dunican was chosen to serve as Grand Marshal of Newark’s 78th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade based on his, and his firm’s, longstanding commitment to the City of Newark, as well as on his Irish heritage and active involvement in Irish American organizations.
The Newark Bears and their fans celebrated Irish Heritage Night with bagpipe and Irish step dancing performances, while video monitors showed a highlight reel of Newark’s 2012 Saint Patrick’s Day Parade. A sizable contingent of Gibbons employees and their families came out in support of Mr. Dunican and enjoyed the game and refreshments in the firm’s hospitality suite.
Mr. Dunican is listed among the Irish Legal 100, a nationwide network of the most distinguished and accomplished lawyers of Irish heritage. He serves on the Board of Advisors of the Irish American Bar Association of New Jersey (IABANJ). He is working with IABANJ and the state’s law schools to develop a program to teach the fundamentals of American law and provide internship opportunities to Irish law students. Mr. Dunican also served as a personal aide to Deputy Grand Marshal Susan Feeney in the 2011 Newark St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Under his direction, Gibbons has continued to honor its rich Irish heritage, celebrating every St. Patrick’s Day with a festive, traditional Irish meal for all employees, along with performances by bagpipers and Irish dancers.
