NJBIZ Lists Patrick Dunican and William Palatucci Among its 2019 “Law Power 50”
June 26, 2019
NJBIZ, one of the leading general business publications covering New Jersey, has featured Patrick C. Dunican Jr., Chairman and Managing Director of Gibbons P.C., and William J. Palatucci, Special Counsel at the firm, on its “Law Power 50” list of the most influential attorneys in private practice, public service, corporate law departments, and nonprofit organizations in New Jersey.
“The entire state benefits from the high quality of work turned in by the attorneys on this list,” according to NJBIZ. “Whether they are in public service or private practice, belong to firms or work in-house, litigators or negotiators, these professionals recognized by NJBIZ help set the agenda for New Jersey.” This year’s issue ranks the top 10 New Jersey attorneys in numerical order and lists the remaining 90 in alphabetical order.
NJBIZ notes of Mr. Dunican:
Gibbons may not be the biggest firm in New Jersey, but its influence is undeniable: it’s been the top lawyer-lobbying firm in the state for 11 years running, according to the state Election Law Enforcement Commission. Patrick Dunican has been running the shop since 2004. Law360 called him one of the most innovative managing partners at a U.S. law firm, and named Gibbons a regional powerhouse. Gibbons represented the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority and state in a bid to get the final match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup — expected to be the biggest ever — scheduled for MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. Additionally, the firm represented the New Jersey Legislature in the case that forged the way for sports betting legalization; and in the real estate arena, longtime Gibbons clients Ironstate Development Co. and Panepinto Properties unveiled the final phase of a major project that brings 1,500 apartments, a 152-key hotel, 1,000 parking spaces and Columbus Drive retail space to the heart of Jersey City, all with direct access to the Grove Street PATH station in the fall.
Of Mr. Palatucci, NJBIZ notes:
It’s tough to be influential as a Republican in New Jersey these days, given the pallid state of the party here. But Palatucci … is still a member of the Republican National Committee and so retains some measure of clout within the GOP at least. During the Christie administration, he was recognized as a power player in the national party and served as general counsel to the Trump transition committee. As the presidential race heats up, Palatucci’s stature in the party and his contacts nationwide should once again put him in the forefront of electoral politics. Palatucci serves on the Board of Visitors of the Seton Hall University School of Law and on the National Advisory Board for the Rutgers University Heldrich Center.
