Matthew L. Saathoff Joins the Gibbons Corporate Group

Gibbons P.C. is pleased to announce that Matthew L. Saathoff has joined the firm as an associate in the Corporate Group.

Mr. Saathoff’s background includes an associateship with Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP in New York City, where he represented private equity firms in purchases and sales of high-value target companies and assets in matters that included, for example, the acquisition of an outdoor equipment and storage products developer and the sales of an investment advisory services firm, litigation financing firm, and private military contractor specializing in military base operations. He also represented an alternative investment manager in its $1.4 billion sale to a global asset management firm. Additionally, Mr. Saathoff served as the lead associate for many matters that involved managing buy and sell-side transactions. In this role, he negotiated high-leverage issues with opposing counsel and principals and drafted, reviewed, and revised primary transaction documents.

Prior to Schulte Roth & Zabel, Mr. Saathoff was an associate with Sidley Austin LLP, also in New York City, following a summer associateship with the firm. There, he represented public and private clients across a wide range of industries and regions in complex mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, and investments.

Mr. Saathoff earned his J.D. from The University of Chicago Law School and his B.S., summa cum laude, in business administration – economics, business, from The University of Central Florida. He is admitted to practice in the state of New York.
