Jennifer Phillips Smith Recognized Among NJBIZ Leaders in Real Estate, Construction and Design

NJBIZ, one of New Jersey’s premier business news publications, has included Jennifer Phillips Smith, Gibbons Real Property Group Co-Chair, on its 2025 list of Leaders in Real Estate, Construction and Design, in the “Attorney” category. The award program “celebrates individuals, companies, and projects that are changing the real estate landscape of New Jersey through development, design, construction, project management, and more.” Ms. Smith and her fellow honorees were recognized at The Marigold in Somerset, New Jersey, on Tuesday, June 10.

Ms. Smith serves or has served as the lead redevelopment attorney on several of New Jersey’s largest, most high-profile development projects, including a $2.5 billion redevelopment along the Raritan River that is considered the largest mixed-use development in state history; the transformation of Asbury Park’s waterfront and the reimagining of Bayonne’s waterfront; the development of a 206,000-square-foot industrial building at a former paper mill site; and various transit-oriented development projects. In her legal practice at Gibbons, she helps New Jersey businesses expand and optimize operations through development and redevelopment of real property – counseling clients on matters ranging from redevelopment projects spanning hundreds of acres to issues impacting small-business owners; representing clients regarding mixed-use, industrial, restaurant, residential, retail, office, medical, educational, and senior living projects; and maintaining niche practices in both liquor licensing and environmental permitting.

NJBIZ has listed Ms. Smith among its “Best 50 Women in Business.” She has also been recognized by Chambers USA, New Jersey Law Journal, Thomson Reuters New Jersey Super Lawyers, and other leading publications.
