Gibbons Ranked Among Top 100 Law Firms for Diversity by Multicultural Law Magazine

For the seventh year in a row, Gibbons P.C. has been named among the Top 100 Law Firms for Diversity by MultiCultural Law. In 2011, the firm ranked 72nd on this list, while also appearing on the following MultiCultural Law specialized lists:

  • #96 on the “Top 100 Law Firms for Women”
  • #46 on the “Top 50 Law Firms for Associates”

In addition, the 2011 edition of MultiCultural Law features an interview with Patrick C. Dunican Jr., Chairman and Managing Director of Gibbons. In the interview, Mr. Dunican discusses the firm’s 85th anniversary, which Gibbons has commemorated throughout 2011, highlighting how, from the beginning, Gibbons has recognized that there is a pool of very talented people with unique skills to offer the firm and its clients who might benefit from purposeful, targeted recruitment and retention efforts. For example, when Andrew Crummy, a young attorney of Irish descent, started the firm in 1926, Irish-American lawyers were simply not hired at established law firms in Newark or New York. Moreover, since its founding, Gibbons has been headquartered in Newark – a city with a dynamic, diverse population from the firm has always drawn a significant portion of our employee base – and has since expanded into similarly diverse New York, Philadelphia, Trenton, and Wilmington. Mr. Dunican goes on to explain how the firm’s diversity initiatives now target the broader legal and business communities, through such efforts as GDI-123, the firm’s supplier diversity program.
