Gibbons P.C. Welcomes 2019 Fall Associate Class

Gibbons P.C. is pleased to announce that nine new associates have joined the firm, bringing diverse talent and experience that further enhances the service that Gibbons delivers to clients. Their practices will span three of the firm’s legal departments, as well as the Gibbons Fellowship, and all will be resident in the firm’s Newark office.

Consistent with the firm’s commitment to hiring the most promising new attorneys with the most relevant prior experience, each associate has recently completed a judicial clerkship, with some having completed more than one. The members of the new class have completed clerkships in various courts throughout the state of New Jersey.

The new associates, along with overviews of their experience, are listed below.

Liana R. Abreu, Employment & Labor Law Department
Ms. Abreu most recently completed a clerkship for the Honorable Brian R. Martinotti, U.S. District Court, District of New Jersey. Prior to her clerkship, Ms. Abreu was an associate in the Gibbons Commercial & Criminal Litigation Department. She also completed a clerkship for the Honorable Marie P. Simonelli, Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division. She earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from Seton Hall University School of Law, where she was Editor-in-Chief of the Seton Hall Legislative Journal, and her B.S., magna cum laude, from Rutgers University. She is admitted to practice in the states of New Jersey and New York and the U.S. District Courts for the District of New Jersey and the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.

Brielle A. Basso, Commercial & Criminal Litigation Department
Ms. Basso recently completed a clerkship for the Honorable Douglas M. Fasciale, Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division. She earned her J.D., cum laude, from Seton Hall University School of Law and her B.A., summa cum laude, from Hofstra University. She is admitted to practice in the state of New Jersey.

Mary K. Bessemer, Commercial & Criminal Litigation Department
Ms. Bessemer recently completed a clerkship for the Honorable Lee Solomon, Supreme Court of New Jersey. She earned her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law, where she was Managing Editor of the Seton Hall Legislative Journal, and her B.A. from The College of New Jersey. She is admitted to practice in the state of New Jersey.

Yolanda J. Bromfield, Commercial & Criminal Litigation Department
Ms. Bromfield recently completed a clerkship for the Honorable Yolanda Ciccone, A.J.S.C., Superior Court of New Jersey, Law Division. She earned her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law, where she was Articles Editor of the Seton Hall Legislative Journal, her M.A. from Columbia University, Teachers College, and her B.S., cum laude, from Hartwick College. She is admitted to practice in the state of New Jersey.

Thomas J. Coghlan, Commercial & Criminal Litigation Department
Mr. Coghlan most recently completed a clerkship for the Honorable Anne M. Patterson, Supreme Court of New Jersey. Prior to his clerkship, he was an associate at Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett LLP. He earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from Cornell Law School, where he was Editor of the Journal of Law and Public Policy, and his B.A., cum laude, from Rutgers University. He is admitted to practice in the states of New Jersey and New York.

Elizabeth A. Mancuso, Commercial & Criminal Litigation Department
Ms. Mancuso recently completed a clerkship for the Honorable Anne M. Patterson, Supreme Court of New Jersey. She earned her J.D., cum laude, from Seton Hall University School of Law, where she was Senior Editor of the Seton Hall Law Review, and her B.A. from Lafayette College. She is admitted to practice in the states of New Jersey and New York.

Michael R. Noveck, John J. Gibbons Fellowship in Public Interest & Constitutional Law
Mr. Noveck most recently was a staff attorney at Northeast New Jersey Legal Services, where he represented low-income clients in housing-related matters and advocated for clients in administrative proceedings, settlement negotiations, trials, and appeals. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School, where he was Executive Editor for Article Selection for the Harvard Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review, and his A.B., summa cum laude, from Princeton University. He is admitted to practice in the states of New Jersey and New York, the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and the Southern District of New York, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Niko J. Rydelek, Environmental Department
Mr. Rydelek most recently completed a clerkship for the Honorable Michael A. Hammer, U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. Prior to his clerkship, he was an associate at McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter, LLP. He also completed a clerkship for the Honorable Kevin M. Shanahan, New Jersey Superior Court. He earned his J.D. from Villanova University School of Law and his B.A., cum laude, from Saint Joseph’s University. He is admitted to practice in the states of New Jersey and New York and the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.

Marquis A. Whitney, Commercial & Criminal Litigation Department
Mr. Whitney recently completed a clerkship for the Honorable James B. Clark, III, U.S.M.J., U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. He earned his J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law and his B.A. from Rutgers University. He is admitted to practice in the state of New Jersey.
