Patrick C. Dunican, Jr., Managing Director of the Newark-based law firm of Gibbons, Del Deo, Dolan, Griffinger & Vecchione, today announced the opening of a Philadelphia office and the naming of veteran Philadelphia lawyer David W. Marston and Director Timothy S. Susanin to lead the effort. The firm’s new office is located at One Logan Square.

“When several of our major clients urged us to open an office in Philadelphia, we became convinced of the great opportunities offered by this city,” Dunican said. “With our concentration on Intellectual Property and other complex litigation, together with our strong general corporate and commercial litigation practice, we expect to compete successfully in the Philadelphia market. The Gibbons name is already known in the Philadelphia legal market, due to, among other things, John Gibbons’ service on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit for 20 years. Our initiative is bolstered by the strong local ties that Dave Marston and Tim Susanin have in this community, and we are delighted to have them spearhead this endeavor.”

Mr. Marston, a Harvard Law School graduate and corporate attorney, previously opened and headed the Philadelphia office of Buchanan Ingersoll and more recently was a partner at Reed Smith, where he headed its corporate section in Philadelphia, New Jersey and New York. Mr. Marston also served as United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, appointed by President Ford, and was a Republican candidate for Mayor of Philadelphia. He has authored books on the FBI and the legal profession, and regularly writes op-ed pieces and book reviews.

Mr. Susanin, a graduate of Villanova University School of Law and Franklin & Marshall College, is a Director of Gibbons and member of the Business & Commercial Litigation Department. He was previously an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia and was also detailed to the Office of Independent Counsel (Whitewater). He has extensive experience conducting internal investigations and also provides legal commentary on CNN, Fox News Channel, NBC and other national media outlets.

David J. Sheehan, Chairman of the firm, said: “Following our successful expansion into Manhattan, led by Pat Dunican, and the steady growth of our government affairs practice in Trenton, we view Philadelphia as the next logical step in our growth. We look forward to being a constructive member of the Philadelphia business, legal and civic communities.” Gibbons’ Philadelphia office will occupy Suite 3040 of One Logan Square, Philadelphia, PA 19103. The office phone number is (215) 561-1408.
