Peter J. Torcicollo, Managing Director of Gibbons P.C., has been named to NJBIZ’s annual “Power 100” list of the most influential people in New Jersey business.

Of Mr. Torcicollo, NJBIZ notes:

Torcicollo stepped into the role of managing director of Gibbons PC, the state’s top lawyer-lobbying firm, in February 2022 after longtime leader Patrick Dunican became executive chair. During his three decades with the firm, Torcicollo served 15 years as co-chair of the commercial and criminal litigation group and built a broad-based commercial litigation practice. Known for his experience handling disputes related to construction and contracts, Torcicollo’s legal accomplishments include securing a settlement allowing American Dream to move forward without inconveniencing the New York Jets or Giants, which had raised concerns the megamall could cause major traffic and parking problems.

Mr. Torcicollo assumed the position of Managing Director on February 1, 2022. He joined Gibbons as an associate in 1993 after earning degrees from Bucknell University and Rutgers School of Law – Newark, leaving for one year to serve as judicial clerk to the Honorable Alfred J. Lechner, Jr., U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. He was promoted to Director in 2000 and became a member of the firm’s Executive Committee in 2010. When the firm’s Business & Commercial Litigation Group merged with the Criminal Defense Group in 2018, he became Co-Chair of the newly formed Commercial & Criminal Litigation Group, the firm’s largest and most wide-ranging practice group. He has held numerous other managerial and leadership positions at Gibbons, which have included leading the firm’s construction litigation practice, serving on the Partnership Screening Committee, and acting as the firm’s hiring partner for over 15 years, playing a key role in the elimination of the firm’s summer associate program in favor of focusing the firm’s entry-level recruiting efforts on lawyers who had completed judicial clerkships. He was directly involved in the hiring of more than 60 current Gibbons attorneys and indirectly involved in far more.

To compile the “Power 100” list, NJBIZ editors and staff conducted extensive research aimed at determining the business leaders, educators, legislators, and other high-level personnel across the state who have affected positive changes and helped foster meaningful growth in New Jersey business. This year’s issue ranks the 10 most powerful people in New Jersey business in numerical order and lists the remaining 90 in alphabetical order.
