Gibbons Director Robert MacPherson Announces Partnership with New Nonprofit Organization Building For Good

October 2, 2019

Robert J. MacPherson, a Director in the Gibbons P.C. Commercial & Criminal Litigation Department and member of the Construction Law & Litigation Team, has helped organize Building For Good, Inc. (B4G), a national platform that links charities and nonprofits with construction lawyers who provide pro bono construction law services. Mr. MacPherson also serves on the Board of B4G.

B4G is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with a mission to further local philanthropic efforts by utilizing skills-based volunteering from within the construction law industry. A group of attorneys from the American Bar Association Forum on Construction Law, including Mr. MacPherson, saw untapped potential in the Forum attorneys wanting to give back to their communities, but lacking an established channel linking construction lawyers to charitable organizations. B4G is launching pilot services in New Jersey, as well as Florida, Massachusetts, Minnesota, but plans to expand to additional states in 2020.

“We noticed there was no easy way for volunteer lawyers to find nonprofit organizations in need of construction law help – Building for Good will bridge that gap,” noted Mr. MacPherson. “We thought that this would allow worthy community organizations to save resources and focus on their mission while at the same encouraging skilled construction lawyers to give back.”

Charitable organizations with construction-related legal issues and financial need can contact B4G for more information and eligibility requirements. Building for Good is actively looking for projects in New Jersey. To submit a project for consideration, volunteer, or donate, visit http://www.building4good.org.
