Patrick C. Dunican Jr., Chairman and Managing Director of Gibbons P.C., was named by NJBIZ to its first-ever “Power 100” list of the 100 most powerful people in New Jersey business. NJBIZ is the premier weekly newspaper covering the state’s business community.

To compile the “Power 100” list, NJBIZ editors spoke to dozens of connected sources over several months to highlight the high-level officials in state, county, and federal government, as well as executives from some of New Jersey’s largest employers and most dynamic organizations, who are helping to strengthen the business environment in New Jersey.

Mr. Dunican appears at #58 on the list, with an entry that reads:

A “super-hard charger,” Dunican brought new energy to the Newark firm he heads – Gibbons P.C. – at a time it was sorely needed. The chairman and managing director is well respected, and ensures his law firm receives a lot of referrals from out-of-state companies looking for Garden State representation.

Mr. Dunican is a nationally recognized law firm innovator who was highlighted by Law360 in 2010 as one of the nation’s most innovative law firm managing partners. He was previously honored by Ernst & Young with an “Entrepreneur of the Year” award. Under his leadership, Gibbons was one of only 20 law firms nationwide to be named to the National Law Journal’s inaugural “Midsize Hot List,” which recognized firms with fewer than 300 lawyers that have found innovative ways to position themselves in the current market, demonstrating creativity and success in recruiting and retaining top talent, developing practice areas, and managing operations.

Mr. Dunican also ensures that Gibbons consistently anticipates changes in the turbulent legal market and stays true to a middle-market vision; Gibbons handles major matters for mid-market companies (with annual revenues of $100 million to $2.5 billion) and mid-market matters for major companies, notably in the Mid-Atlantic region. Mr. Dunican has also devoted major new emphasis and firm resources to the aggressive Gibbons Diversity Initiative, wide-ranging pro bono engagements, and a ground-breaking Women’s Initiative that won the firm the prestigious Catalyst Award in 2009.
