Gibbons Attorney Sylvia-Rebecca Gutiérrez Selected as 2020 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Fellow

March 19, 2020

Gibbons P.C. has selected Sylvia-Rebecca (Becky) Gutiérrez, an associate in the firm’s Commercial & Criminal Litigation Department., as its 2020 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Fellow.

Launched in 2011, the LCLD Fellows Program identifies high-potential attorneys from diverse backgrounds to participate in a comprehensive, structured leadership skills training program, with the goal of increasing diversity at the leadership levels of the nation’s law firms and corporate legal departments.

“Already recognized as high achievers within their own organizations, the Fellows will experience a year of multifaceted professional development,” said Robert Grey, LCLD President. “Our Fellows Program is unique in the nation, as it focuses on equipping participants with the advanced skills they need to play larger and more responsible roles in our Member organizations.”

As one of the 361 attorneys selected as 2020 Fellows, Ms. Gutiérrez will participate in a year-long professional development curriculum that includes in-person conferences and peer-group projects to foster collaboration and build relationships. She will have extensive contact with LCLD’s top leadership, including the managing partners and general counsel who host the Fellows for “Learning Experiences” and “Leadership Lunches.”

“We are constantly seeking new and varied platforms to support the retention and promotion of diverse attorneys, whether through our firm’s Diversity and Women’s Initiatives or collaboration with organizations like LCLD,” says Patrick C. Dunican Jr., Chairman and Managing Director of Gibbons. “Becky will undoubtedly do the firm proud during her time as a Fellow, and we are eager to see her continue to advance in her career.”

At Gibbons, Ms. Gutiérrez concentrates her practice in general commercial and tax litigation at both the trial and appellate levels. She advises both individual and corporate clients in pre-litigation and litigation proceedings and has experience in representing companies in connection with investigations by the Department of Justice.
