Patrick C. Dunican Jr., Chairman and Managing Director of Gibbons P.C., and Bill Palatucci, Special Counsel at the firm, were named by NJBIZ to its “Power 100” list of the most influential people in New Jersey business.

Both have appeared on this list since its inception in 2011. Mr. Dunican rose 19 positions since last year to rank 37th on the 2014 list, with Mr. Palatucci ranking 4th – up nine over last year. These increasingly higher rankings are especially impressive; half of the people on the 2013 list were not included in 2014 at all.

NJBIZ notes of Patrick Dunican: Gibbons isn’t the biggest law firm in New Jersey or even Newark, but its influence may be the greatest. …That’s a credit to Dunican, the managing director.

During Mr. Dunican’s tenure as Chairman and Managing Director of Gibbons, the firm joined the Am Law 200 and expanded into the Mid-Atlantic region, adding 80 attorneys and opening offices in Philadelphia and Delaware. He has also devoted firm resources to the Gibbons Diversity Initiative, wide-ranging pro bono engagements, and Women’s Initiative, which earned Gibbons the prestigious Catalyst Award in 2009. His focus on marketing and branding earned Gibbons a place as the only law firm featured in Steve Adubato’s book, You Are the Brand. Mr. Dunican has received alumni awards from both his alma maters, Seton Hall University School of Law and Iona College.

Of Bill Palatucci, NJBIZ writes: We asked a lot of people about who will steer [Governor] Christie in the coming months, and they all came back with the same short list, often headed by Palatucci.

Mr. Palatucci, who led Governor Christie’s 2013 reelection campaign and co-chaired the 2014 Inaugural Committee, is one of the state’s most prominent and widely respected attorneys, with a reputation for strategic planning and complex public policy and communications initiatives. He most recently served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Public Affairs at Community Education Centers. In 2010, he was elected the Republican National Committeeman for New Jersey and, in 2009, served as Co-Chairman of the Inaugural Committee for Governor Chris Christie and Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno. He currently serves as a member of the National Advisory Board for the Heldrich Center for Workforce Development at Rutgers University and as a member of the Board of Visitors at the Seton Hall University School of Law. He also chairs the University of Phoenix Board of Trustees for its Jersey City, NJ campus.

To compile the “Power 100” list, NJBIZ editors spoke to dozens of connected sources over several months to highlight the high-level officials in state, county, and federal government, as well as executives from some of New Jersey’s largest employers and most dynamic organizations, who are helping to strengthen the business environment in New Jersey.
