David Marella Rejoins Gibbons Following Presidential Political Appointment
January 24, 2018
Gibbons P.C. is pleased to announce that David J. Marella has rejoined the firm as an associate in the Corporate Department. Earlier this year, Mr. Marella received a presidential political appointment to serve on a six-month, full-time basis in the leadership role of Advisor to the Executive Director of the President’s Commission on Combatting Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis.
Established by executive order in early 2017, the President’s Commission operates within the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, in the Executive Office of the President. The bipartisan President’s Committee, chaired by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, was tasked with studying the scope and effectiveness of the federal response to the opioid crisis and to make recommendations to President Donald J. Trump for improving that response. As part of the team addressing the historic health crisis, Mr. Marella advised Governor Christie and collaborated with officials from the White House, Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Justice, Department of Labor, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Veterans Affairs, and National Security Council. Mr. Marella recently authored an article in the New Jersey Law Journal discussing his service on the Commission.
“We are delighted to welcome David back to the firm and look forward to his future as he continues to grow and advance in his career,” says Patrick C Dunican Jr., Chairman and Managing Director of Gibbons.
Mr. Marella has extensive experience in representing public and private companies, financial institutions, and governmental agencies in connection with mergers and acquisitions, stock and asset purchase transactions, corporate governance matters, credit facilities, public finance, contract drafting, cross-border transactions, and general corporate matters.
