Jennifer Phillips Smith, Co-Chair of the Gibbons P.C. Real Property Group, received a 2024 “Enterprising Women in Commerce” Platinum Award from the Commerce & Industry Association of New Jersey (CIANJ). Ms. Smith, along with her fellow honorees, were celebrated at an awards reception on August 14, 2024, at the Glen Ridge Country Club in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. They all are featured in the August issue of COMMERCE, the organization’s monthly magazine.

This year marks the fourth annual “Enterprising Women in Commerce” Awards. CIANJ bestows the Platinum recognition on women who have “reached the C-suite or pinnacle of their careers and celebrate tremendous accomplishments.”

At Gibbons, Ms. Smith is lead land use attorney on several of New Jersey’s largest, highest-profile development and redevelopment projects, including a $2.5 billion redevelopment considered the largest mixed-use development in state history; transformation of Asbury Park’s Waterfront; and development of a 206,000-square-foot industrial building at a former paper mill site. She counsels clients on matters ranging from redevelopment projects spanning hundreds of acres to issues impacting small-business owners; represents clients regarding mixed-use, industrial, restaurant, residential, retail, office, medical, educational, and senior living projects; and maintains a niche practice in liquor licensing and alcoholic beverage control.

Ms. Smith follows past “Enterprising Women in Commerce” honorees from Gibbons, including, in 2022, Christine A. Amalfe, Employment & Labor Law Group Chair; June M. Inderwies, Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer; and Kate E. Janukowicz, Business & Commercial Litigation Group Director and Director of Professional Development, Retention, and Associate Recruitment. The firm’s 2021 honoree was Camille V. Otero, Chair of the Environmental Group.
