Christine Stearns Named to 2017 NJBIZ Health Care Power 50 List

March 20, 2017

Christine A. Stearns, a Director in the Government Affairs Department of Gibbons P.C. and Administrative Director of the Trenton office, has been named to the 2017 NJBIZ Health Care Power 50 list. This list, published annually, was compiled and ranked by the editors of NJBIZ after discussions with leaders in the New Jersey healthcare industry. This year, Ms. Stearns placed 11th on the list, climbing 11 spots from her 2016 ranking.

NJBIZ notes of Ms. Stearns: Stearns already was a key player in health care at the New Jersey Business & Industry Association when she made the jump to law firm Gibbons P.C. in February 2015. Two years later, her stock is still climbing. She not only has grown her reputation in Trenton as Gibbons’ director of government relations and administrative director of the capital office, she has grown it with the new consumer health care think tank she now heads, Better Choices, Better Care NJ. More than anything, she is a go-to player on all the issues. “People in health care whisper in her ear,” one source said. Another added: “She gets things done and is very effective. She’s energetic and knows all the players.”

Ms. Stearns was selected on the basis of her legal, political, and legislative experience focused on New Jersey’s healthcare industry. In her role as Administrative Director of the firm’s Trenton office, headquarters of the Gibbons Government Affairs Department (named the state’s top lawyer-lobbying firm based on revenues for nine straight years), she is responsible for day-to-day office management, which includes supporting the needs of the practice group’s eight-attorney team. She has also been named one of NJBIZ’s “Best 50 Women in Business” and one of NJ Spotlight’s “Top 10 Healthcare Lobbyists in New Jersey.”

Ms. Stearns currently serves on several state boards that regulate various aspects of New Jersey’s healthcare system, including the Health Care Administration Board. She also is a board member of the Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice and New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute. Prior to joining Gibbons in 2015, Ms. Stearns served as the Vice President of Health & Legal Affairs for the New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA) where she served as a healthcare advocate for the business community.
