Christine Stearns Named to 2016 NJBIZ Health Care Power 50 List

March 21, 2016

Christine A. Stearns, a Director in the Government Affairs Department of Gibbons P.C. and Administrative Director of the Trenton office, has been named to the 2016 NJBIZ Health Care Power 50 list. This list, published annually, was compiled and ranked by the editors of NJBIZ after discussions with leaders in the New Jersey healthcare industry. Last month, Ms. Stearns was also named one of New Jersey’s “Best 50 Women in Business” by NJBIZ.

NJBIZ notes of Ms. Stearns: “She’s the rare blend of policy expertise and political acumen,’ the admirer began. ‘Adult in the room. Has been a consistent longtime voice of the business community on health care issues, but has done it in a way that has not alienated the Democrats.’ She does most of her work behind the scenes. ‘She was key in getting the Camden/Cooper EMS legislation through,’ one insider said. ‘She’s a great lobbyist and great at what she does.’”

“This honor recognizes Christine’s wide-ranging knowledge of today’s constantly evolving healthcare industry,” says Patrick C. Dunican Jr., Chairman and Managing Director of Gibbons. “Our clients benefit from her vast experience in this field.”

Ms. Stearns was selected on the basis of her legal, political, and legislative experience focused on New Jersey’s healthcare industry. In her role as Administrative Director of the firm’s Trenton office, headquarters of the Gibbons Government Affairs Department (named the state’s top lawyer-lobbying firm based on revenues for eight straight years), she is responsible for day-to-day office management, which includes supporting the needs of the practice group’s nine-attorney team. She was previously named to the NJBIZ Health Care Power 50 list from 2011-2014 and has been included on NJ Spotlight’s list of “Top 10 Healthcare Lobbyists in New Jersey.”

Ms. Stearns currently serves on several state boards that regulate various aspects of New Jersey’s healthcare system, including the Health Care Administration Board. She also is a board member of the Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice and New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute. Prior to joining Gibbons in 2015, Ms. Stearns served as the Vice President of Health & Legal Affairs for the New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA) where she served as a healthcare advocate for the business community.
