Boy Scouts of America Honors Gibbons Attorney Michelle Bufano with “Tribute to Women” Award
December 3, 2008
Gibbons P.C. is proud to announce that Products Liability Department associate Michelle M. Bufano was honored by the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) and one of its local chapters, the Patriots’ Path Council (serving Morris, Somerset, Union, Sussex, and portions of Middlesex counties) at its “Tribute to Women” awards luncheon on November 14, 2008 at Morris Country Golf Club. This annual event recognizes outstanding women who serve as exemplary role models for youth and who live their lives according to the ideals of the Scout Oath and Law.
Ms. Bufano’s award reflected both her professional practice at Gibbons and her charitable and community outreach. As part of the Gibbons Women’s Initiative, Ms. Bufano has been involved in, for example, various drives for the Dress for Success Campaign; numerous Habitat for Humanity projects; fundraising walks for women’s health causes; a program unique to Gibbons, “Bring Your Professional To School Day,” through which women attorneys visit a local public school to serve as role models; annual backpack and school supplies drives for underprivileged children; and holiday season book drives for children in the Newark community.
“Michelle perfectly understands the Gibbons mission to provide excellence in both client service and community service,” says Patrick C. Dunican, Jr., Chairman and Managing Director of the firm. “It is, therefore, entirely fitting that such a venerated organization as the Boy Scouts of America salutes her practice and her outreach, and we could not be more proud.”
BSA’s “Tribute to Women” awards luncheon raises funds to support the Patriots’ Path Council’s award-winning child abuse prevention program, which it offers to the community throughout Northern and Central New Jersey. The Council ranks first in the nation among all Boy Scout Councils in their collective fight against child abuse. The Patriots’ Path Council is known as one of the premier trainers of child abuse prevention, having delivered these programs to over 30,000 youth.
