Birgit Kurtz Joins Gibbons in the Business & Commercial Litigation Department

Gibbons P.C. is pleased to announce that Birgit Kurtz has joined the firm as a Director in the Business & Commercial Litigation Department in the firm’s New York office.

Most recently, Ms. Kurtz was an attorney in the International Dispute Resolution Group at Crowell & Moring LLP in New York, where she represented U.S. and foreign companies and individuals in litigation, arbitration, and mediation. She represented clients in the banking, insurance, electronics, telecommunications, technology, industrial equipment, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries, among others. She also focuses on art law. Ms. Kurtz also served as an account officer in the International Banking Department of Citibank N.A., where she managed and increased banking portfolios of high net worth private European clients.

Ms. Kurtz will serve as a part of the firm’s German Practice, which works with clients from Germany, Switzerland, and Austria who have business interests in the United States. Clients range from new entrants into the U.S. marketplace to established international companies with operations around the world. The German Practice is closely integrated with the Gibbons Referendar program, under which German law school graduates spend part of their mandatory clerkships working in the Gibbons New York office.

Ms. Kurtz earned her JD from Fordham University School of Law, where she was Senior Articles Editor of the Fordham Environmental Law Journal, and passed her First State Exam in Law at the University of Münster Law School in Münster, Germany. She is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey. Ms. Kurtz is a native German speaker.
