Alyce C. Halchak, a Director in the Gibbons Corporate Department, is the only NJ-based attorney to be named to the 2008 class of the DirectWomen Board Institute. Ms. Halchak was among only 20 women to be named to this prestigious list for 2008, chosen from more than 200 nominations nationwide.

An initiative of the American Bar Association and Catalyst, DirectWomen is the only program specifically designed to identify, develop, and support a select group of accomplished women attorneys to provide directors needed by the boards of U.S. companies. The group works to increase diversity on corporate boards by providing qualified women as candidates to leaders in the business world.

Ms. Halchak has significant experience counseling boards of directors of public and private companies on a variety of governance and legal matters. Her experience includes leading internal investigations and providing advice to boards and special committees regarding corporate governance matters, including Sarbanes-Oxley implementation, compliance and enforcement. She is listed among the state’s leading lawyers in Super Lawyers and The Best Lawyers in America, and was recently named one of the “10 To Watch” in The Star-Ledger’s article on “The Most Powerful Women in New Jersey Business.” Ms. Halchak is frequently called upon as an author and speaker on various legal topics. She earned her J.D. from the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, LL.M. from the New York University School of Law and B.A. from Marywood College.
