Speaker, Gibbons Women's Initiative, "International Aspects of U.S. Litigation," Newark, NJ

June 22, 2016 | 9:00 AM - June 22, 2016 | 10:30 AM EST

Featuring: Birgit Kurtz

Globalization is here to stay! Today, virtually every U.S. business has an international connection, such as foreign suppliers, customers, or affiliates. As a result, numerous cases in federal and state courts in the United States include an international element as well. From a practical perspective, this can present challenges to litigators and their clients.

At this program, panelists will discuss:

  • Service of process on a defendant located abroad
  • Witnesses and evidence located abroad
  • Discovery in the U.S. for a foreign or international proceeding
  • Application of foreign law in U.S. courts
  • Recognition/enforcement of foreign judgments in the U.S. and U.S. judgments abroad
