Mr. Bershad has been a commercial real estate attorney for more than 40 years. He has been the lead attorney on some of the most significant real estate transactions in New Jersey and is recognized as one of the state’s leading real estate attorneys.
Mr. Bershad is one of fourteen “Band 1” real estate attorneys in New Jersey recognized in the Chambers USA Guide to America’s Leading Lawyers for Business. He was listed in NJBIZ magazine’s 2016 “Power 75 Real Estate List” of leading individuals in real estate in New Jersey. In addition, Mr. Bershad was designated in New Jersey Super Lawyers as the “Real Estate Lawyer of the Year” in the Newark region for 2017 and has been included in its list of New Jersey Super Lawyers in real estate for over a dozen years. He has been listed in Best Lawyers® for many years and is one of a select group of New Jersey lawyers elected for membership in the American College of Real Estate Lawyers.
Mr. Bershad is a senior Director in the Gibbons Real Property Group. He is the immediate Past Chair of the Group, which he led for over 15 years. Mr. Bershad continues to lead the transactional real estate practice within the Real Property Group. The transactional real estate practice is ranked in Tier 1 in New Jersey by US News & World Report/Best Lawyers.
In addition to his extensive experience focusing on acquisitions and dispositions, leasing, financing, and development projects, Mr. Bershad has broad experience regarding tax abatements and redevelopment area bonds financing.
