Julia E. Browning, CIPP-US

Associate, Business & Commercial Litigation

Julia’s practice focuses on various stages of litigation and arbitration, including initial case strategy, factual investigation and discovery, preparation of dispositive motions, oftentimes on an expedited basis, pre- and post-trial briefing, and trial.  Her experience spans business and corporate disputes, trade secret litigation, class action defense, and government contract claims such as bid protests and procurement disputes.

Julia is also a member of the firm’s privacy and data security group and counsels companies on incident preparedness, creates incident response plans, advises on consumer and regulatory notification obligations, and guides clients through all stages of an incident.  Julia is a Certified Information Privacy Professional with a concentration on U.S. private-sector law (CIPP/US).

Julia also has experience advising clients in highly regulated industries of their compliance obligations. Prior to joining the firm, Jullia was in-house counsel at a large telecommunications company working on federal and state regulatory matters before the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and state public utility commissions. During this time, she counseled the business on its compliance obligations and responded to investigations from federal agencies. She also advised on issues related to the Telecommunications Act of 1996, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the Stored Communications Act (SCA), and the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA).

Julia previously completed a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Lydia Kay Griggsby, formerly of the United States Court of Federal Claims in Washington, DC.
