So you are in the midst of litigation, frantically preparing for trial, discovery requests are flying back and forth, depositions are noticed, you’ve engaged your experts or, maybe you just settled, obtained entry of default or even judgment-and suddenly, one of the parties to the litigation files a bankruptcy petition. Now what? What if your client is a counter-party to a contract, a lease, or an IP license with the debtor?

At this presentation, the panelists will provide a brief primer and overview of the Bankruptcy Code and will focus on what you need to know in order to avoid violating the automatic stay while preserving your client’s rights. Participants will gain a basic understanding of relevant sections of the Bankruptcy Code, the automatic stay, property of the estate, and creditors’ rights and remedies.
