The ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct impose upon lawyers an affirmative ethical responsibility to “keep abreast of changes in the law and its practice, including the benefits and risks associated with relevant technology.” This panel will briefly explore three recent technology-related advances that should be on all attorneys’ radar: (1) new vendor delivery models that reduce costs and afford attorneys and clients greater flexibility in interacting with case data; (2) new tools that reshape traditional linear document review and allow quick identification of the most relevant documents; and (3) the surge in adoption of Microsoft’s Office 365 and the challenges and benefits it portends for e-discovery and information governance.
