With companies facing increased challenges of tracking data, as well as legal obligations to store, maintain, collect, process, and produce information in a litigation or otherwise, the role of specific e-discovery counsel to maximize efficiencies and reduce risk should be considered. Such counsel do not “replace” outside counsel or perform in-house functions, but rather serve as a resource to ensure that personnel and technology are deployed effectively to manage e-discovery issues proportionately and uniformly within the company.
