Michael R. Griffinger, a Director in the Gibbons Business & Commercial Litigation Department, has earned a 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award from the New Jersey Law Journal. Mr. Griffinger will be honored at the Professional Excellence Awards Dinner in June and will also be profiled in a New Jersey Law Journal supplement that month.

“The New Jersey Law Journal joins numerous other publications and organizations that have recognized Mike’s enormous contributions to the legal profession, the justice system, and the broader community – not to mention a legion of satisfied clients,” said Patrick C. Dunican Jr., Chairman and Managing Director of Gibbons P.C.

Mr. Griffinger is the fourth Gibbons attorney to receive this honor. Last year, the inaugural class of Lifetime Achievement Award recipients included fellow Gibbons attorneys Christine A. Amalfe, Lawrence S. Lustberg, and James R. Zazzali.

A business litigator for over 40 years, Mr. Griffinger has been recognized as one of the leading “Bet-the-Company” and business litigators in the state in such publications as Woodward/White Best Lawyers®, Thomson Reuters New Jersey Super Lawyers, and Chambers USA Guide to America’s Leading Lawyers for Business. He recently served as Chairman of the Judicial and Prosecutorial Appointments Committee of the New Jersey State Bar Association; Chairman of the Board of Volunteer Lawyers for Justice; and Chairman of the Board of Legal Services Foundation. In the broader community, Mr. Griffinger has served on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center since 1995, and he founded the Fresh Air Fund Games. He has earned the Trial Attorneys of New Jersey Trial Bar Award; the Association of the Federal Bar of New Jersey’s William J. Brennan, Jr. Award; and the New Jersey State Bar Foundation’s highest honor – the Medal of Honor Award.

Through its Lifetime Achievement Awards, the New Jersey Law Journal celebrates individuals who have helped to shape the legal industry in New Jersey through their work on the bench, at law firms, with legal services organizations, or by other means. Readers were invited to nominate any attorney who has left a significant mark on New Jersey’s legal history. The Law Journal also consulted other trusted members of the legal community, as well as its seasoned reporting staff, to nominate those whom they thought were worthy of recognition. Honorees include attorneys from law firms, law schools, and nonprofits throughout the state, as well as judges.
