The National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL®) installed its 2015-2016 officers and board members at its Annual Meeting & Awards Luncheon, held on July 16, 2015 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York. Kristin D. Sostowski, a Director in the Gibbons P.C. Employment & Labor Law Department, was inducted as Treasurer-Elect.

Ms. Sostowski is an active, longtime member of NAWL, the nation’s oldest professional organization devoted to the progress of women lawyers and women’s legal rights. She has served as a member of NAWL’s Executive Board since 2011 and is on track to be the organization’s President in 2019-2020.

Ms. Sostowski has led several programs focused on the promotion and retention of women in the legal profession. Spurred by the stagnant percentage of women equity partners and the business imperative of greater diversity in law firms, Ms. Sostowski co-founded NAWL’s Pipeline to Equity Partnership program (P2P). She has also served as NAWL’s Board Liaison to the Amicus Committee (2014 – present), Co-Chair of the Membership (2013 – 2014) and Program (2011 – 2013) Committees, and as Co-Chair of NAWL charitable events to benefit the New Jersey Community Food Bank and the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign. In recognition of her dedication, she received NAWL’s Virginia S. Mueller Outstanding Member Award in 2010.

At Gibbons, Ms. Sostowski provides strategic counsel to clients at all phases of the employment relationship, including compliance with federal and state workplace laws, pre-litigation risk avoidance, and defense of workplace-related disputes. She represents companies and managers in employment litigation in state and federal courts and agencies, with an emphasis on discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblower and restrictive covenant matters. She was named one of the NJBIZ “Forty Under 40” in 2014 and was selected to the most recent Thomson Reuters New Jersey Super Lawyers Rising Stars list.
