Camille V. Otero, a Director in the Real Property & Environmental Department at Gibbons P.C., has been named one of Profiles in Diversity Journal’s “Women Worth Watching” for 2016, based on her sophisticated, wide-ranging environmental litigation and counseling practice, the leadership and innovation she demonstrates in that practice, and her dedicated community service, particularly in connection with the Gibbons Women’s Initiative.

Ms. Otero joins fellow Gibbons attorneys Christine Amalfe, Kim Catullo, Karen Giannelli, Uzoamaka Okoye, and Natasha Songonuga, who all have been featured in annual “Women Worth Watching” issues over the past six years. On the 2016 list, she also joins women executives from such national and global companies as 3M, American Express, Cisco, Delta Airlines, Novartis, and The Walt Disney Company; Am Law 200 law firms; prominent academic institutions, such as Allegheny College, Barry University, and Walden University; and numerous other corporations across a wide range of industries, as well as nonprofits spanning a variety of issues and causes.

“Collectively, these women are forging ahead with global acclaim in strategies that are making a difference in their workplace, marketplace, and around the world,” said James Rector, publisher of Profiles in Diversity Journal. “These leaders bring an array of life experiences and views that consistently produce a variety of new concepts and ideas.”

At Gibbons, Ms. Otero helps clients achieve their business goals by strategically managing environmental risk associated with manufacturing operations, as well as resulting litigation. She advises clients on the expansion and modification of facilities or operations that involve environmental considerations, as well as on community relations to ensure that their operations and engagement with communities housing those operations remain productive and harmonious. She is involved in some of the most significant, high-profile cleanups and litigation of prominent waterways in New Jersey; represents clients in complex contract litigations involving significant legacy environmental liability resulting from the release of hazardous substances into the environment; and handles enforcement proceedings concerning permit and other alleged environmental violations, often reducing or eliminating her clients’ liability.

In addition, as a member of the Events Committee of the award-winning Gibbons Women’s Initiative, Ms. Otero helps to develop substantive educational programs covering various legal and business topics, as well as civic, social, and cultural networking opportunities, for firm attorneys and corporate women executives, sometimes partnering with external professional women’s organizations.
