Gibbons Philadelphia Office Director George Murphy Elected to Board of International Association of Defense Counsel
July 15, 2009At its Annual Meeting in July, the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) elected George J. Murphy, a Director in the Products Liability Department of Gibbons P.C., to its Board of Directors.
The IADC, an invitation-only professional association for corporate and insurance defense attorneys, undertakes activities and programming for the benefit of its members and their clients, as well as for the broader legal profession and civil justice system, while also leading in the areas of legal reform and professional development. Its membership numbers approximately 2,500 defense attorneys across the globe.
A longstanding member, and now Board member, of IADC, Mr. Murphy is also President of the IADC Foundation Board of Directors. The Foundation focuses most directly on issues impacting the civil justice system, advancing innovation through global best practices, educating the public and worldwide legal community, promoting projects to advance the legal system, and supporting critical related scholarship. In addition, the Foundation sponsors a special forum on major topics of interest each year at the IADC Midyear Meeting and has arranged for Sandra Day O’Connor to be the speaker at the next Foundation forum.
At Gibbons, Mr. Murphy is a trial lawyer who practices primarily in pharmaceutical and products liability, professional liability, employment, and major casualty litigation, as well as class actions and multidistrict litigation.
