Mr. Diaz has over 20 years of experience in a wide range of complex matters, including intellectual property law, technology-related joint ventures and strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions, sales and marketing, and government relations. He focuses his practice on advice and transactions relating to technology, e-commerce, privacy and data security, and cloud computing. Mr. Diaz represents foreign corporations from Spain, Central America, and South America in the United States. Prior to joining Gibbons, he founded the intellectual property group at IDT Corporation (NYSE:IDT) and served as Executive Vice President and Senior Counsel with the company.


Mr. Diaz focuses his practice on technology; e-commerce; privacy and data security; and cloud computing transactions and advice, with concentrations in the areas of data privacy, data security, and software licensing and commercialization. He regularly advises clients on a wide range of matters, including privacy and data security compliance; response to data security breach incidents; preparation of written privacy and data security policies; software issues; financial privacy; social networking; and payment card data security.

Mr. Diaz regularly represents colleges, universities, and other clients to implement leading-edge systems and cloud-based technologies including WorkDay, Banner, and Oracle. This includes the negotiation of service agreements to address data privacy concerns and other legal issues, statements of work (SOWS), software license agreements, and related order forms. Mr. Diaz also represents foreign corporations from Spain, Central America, and South America in the United States.

As Chief Diversity Officer of Gibbons P.C., Mr. Diaz manages all aspects of the Gibbons Diversity Initiative (GDI), including the implementation and execution of a highly innovative diversity strategy that leverages all of the firm’s existing resources while enhancing the ability of the firm’s clients to meet their objectives in this area.

Mr. Diaz leads efforts to identify, enhance, and implement best practices in all areas of diversity. To that end, Mr. Diaz works with the Executive Committee and Diversity Council to implement the firm’s diversity initiatives. He advises with respect to diversity activities; monitors the firm’s status and trends in recruitment, development, and retention of minority and women employees; serves as a liaison with external organizations dedicated to fostering diversity in the legal profession; advises on internal and external communications relating to diversity; and manages the firm’s supplier diversity program - “GDI-123.”

In addition to serving as the firm’s Chief Diversity Officer, Mr. Diaz serves as the President & CEO of the United States Hispanic Advocacy Association (USHAA), where he works with major corporations and higher learning institutions to develop innovative strategies and advocate for diversity and inclusion.
