June M. Inderwies, the Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of Gibbons P.C., has been honored with the Scholarship Fund for Inner-City Children’s Vitae Discimus Award for 2015. She received this award at the organization’s annual dinner on May 19 at the Park Savoy in Florham Park.

Nancy Ward, FiOS1 News Anchor/Reporter and a former Gibbons P.C. employee, served as the host of the event, which also honored Joan and Joseph McSweeny with the Archbishop Gerety Award in recognition of their dedication to Catholic education.

“June has been an integral member of the Gibbons family for almost 30 years,” stated Patrick C. Dunican Jr., Chairman and Managing Director of Gibbons. “We are very proud to see her recognized for her community service efforts, especially the work she has done to assist organizations like SFIC that are expanding educational opportunities for today’s youth.”

Both Ms. Inderwies and Gibbons have been long-time supporters of the Scholarship Fund for Inner-City Children (SFIC), which provides children in need with the opportunity to receive a high quality, values-based education in a nurturing and safe environment. Since its founding in 1983, SFIC has provided over $35 million in partial tuition scholarships to more than 45,000 students attending private and parochial schools within Bergen, Essex, Hudson, and Union counties. In this academic year alone, SFIC is helping more than 2,200 students with contributions of $2.6 million in tuition assistance to schools throughout the Archdiocese of Newark.

As Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of Gibbons, Ms. Inderwies holds the highest non-attorney position in the firm and is responsible for both facilities operation and personnel management for more than 400 employees in five offices and four states. By the time she was named Executive Director, she had worked for Gibbons for more than 20 years, beginning as a paralegal and rising through the ranks. In her various leadership roles, she has guided the firm through two decades of tremendous growth. She also oversees “Gibbons Cares,” the firm’s charitable platform, which includes annual donations of more than $1 million and extensive volunteer service, all in support of the communities in which the firm has offices.

Ms. Inderwies also dedicates much of her spare time to community outreach, serving as the Chair of the Board of Directors for Christ the King Preparatory School in Newark. For her professional achievements and charitable commitment, she has earned recognition as one of the “Best 50 Women in Business” by NJBIZ and has received the “Salute to the Policymakers” award from the Executive Women of New Jersey.
