NJBIZ, the premier weekly business newspaper in the state, has selected Kristin D. Sostowski, a Director in the Gibbons P.C. Employment & Labor Law Department, as one of its “Forty Under 40” for 2014. Ms. Sostowski was presented her award on Monday, September 29.

Each year, NJBIZ chooses as its “Forty Under 40” those candidates who demonstrate exceptional commitment not only to their own professional achievement, but to their local communities and strengthening the business environment in the state.

Ms. Sostowski’s selection was based on her outstanding work on behalf of employers, supporting the long-term growth and success of businesses throughout the state by helping clients ensure compliance with the many state and federal laws governing the workplace. She was also recognized for her leadership, both at the firm and at numerous organizations devoted to women attorneys’ issues, especially the National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL), for which she is on track to be President in 2019-2020. The award also highlighted Kristin’s strong civic and pro bono commitment.

At Gibbons, she provides strategic counsel to clients at all phases of the employment relationship, including compliance with federal and state workplace laws, pre-litigation risk avoidance, and defense of workplace-related disputes. She represents companies and managers in employment litigation in state and federal courts and agencies, with an emphasis on discrimination, harassment, retaliation and whistleblower matters. Ms. Sostowski earned her JD from Harvard Law School and her BA from Swarthmore College.
