Christine A. Amalfe received the Essex County Bar Association’s (ECBA) Civil Trial Attorney Award at the organization’s annual dinner, held at the Pleasantdale Chateau on May 2, 2011.

“In recognizing Chris as its outstanding civil trial attorney for the year, ECBA also highlighted her many other critical roles,” says Patrick C. Dunican Jr., Chairman and Managing Director of Gibbons. “As the Chair of the firm’s Employment Practice Group, our Human Resources General Counsel, an Executive Committee member, and co-founder of the Gibbons Women’s Initiative, Ms. Amalfe works as tirelessly for Gibbons as she does for her clients.”

As Chair of the Employment Law Department, Ms. Amalfe manages 16 lawyers across three offices and oversees the legal, administrative, and business development functions for one of the firm’s most active practices, with clients among the world’s best-known companies. When she was appointed to this position at the age of 40, she became the firm’s youngest woman department chair. Ms. Amalfe ensures that the Department offers clients a variety of services beyond top-flight legal counsel, including seminars and speaking engagements; custom employment law training programs; a regularly produced newsletter; and, most recently, the Employment Law Alert blog.

Ms. Amalfe has been listed for many years in Best Lawyers in America for the New York area; New Jersey Super Lawyers; and Chambers USA Guide to America’s Leading Lawyers for Business. New Jersey Super Lawyers included her in its rankings of the Top 100 Lawyers and Top 50 Female Lawyers. In 2010, she was named one of Profiles in Diversity Journal’s “Women Worth Watching.”
