David J. Freeman

David J. Freeman, a Director in the Real Property & Environmental Department, has extensive experience in:

  • the representation of buyers, sellers, and developers of contaminated properties and brownfields;
  • environmental due diligence;
  • representing parties engaged in hazardous waste cleanups;
  • litigation related to remediation, cost recovery, property damage, and exposure to toxic substances; and
  • assisting clients with sustainability, climate change, and green buildings issues.

Mr. Freeman previously served as a legislative assistant to U.S. Senator Frank E. Moss and a trial attorney for the Federal Trade Commission.

He is a frequent speaker and writer on environmental topics, serving as a contributing author to the American Bar Association's handbook, "Environmental Aspects of Real Estate Transactions," Editor-in-Chief of West Publications,' "Journal of Environmental Law & Practice," and Annual Update Editor for West Publications' treatise, "Environmental Law & Regulation in New York."
