Michael Cukor

Michael Cukor is a Director in the firm’s New York Intellectual Property Department. Mr. Cukor has represented clients with regard to their intellectual property needs for his entire legal career and has been an invited speaker on topics relating to intellectual property licensing and litigation for leading organizations. Mr. Cukor joined Gibbons as a Director after training at Pillsbury Winthrop and Akin Gump and divides his practice between federal intellectual property litigation and intellectual property counseling.

Mr. Cukor worked as a programmer and application developer for Hoffmann-La Roche and Boston Scientific prior to law school. Utilizing this unique industry experience and technical ability, he is able to provide a powerful approach to intellectual property litigation that is based on a commitment to thoroughly understanding the technology at suit.

Mr. Cukor is also the inventor of the Gibbons IP Topography program, a patent pending tool that provides clients with an interactive graphical representation of their intellectual property, which creates custom reports that help explain the state of the current intellectual property market, the state of the client’s intellectual property and the extent of competitors’ intellectual property. The IP Topography also provides links to the relevant patents and identifies the specific claim numbers of the patents that may be relevant for review, making it a useful tool for identifying potential acquisition targets and for generating ideas for product development based on features that competitors identify as patent worthy.
