Mara E. Zazzali-Hogan

Mara E. Zazzali-Hogan primarily handles complex litigation matters, which include general business and commercial litigation including contractual and shareholder disputes; litigation related to pharmaceuticals, medical devices and clinical laboratories; and criminal, civil and administrative matters arising in the context of health care fraud investigations, corporate compliance issues and Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement challenges.

Regarding pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, Ms. Zazzali-Hogan has been involved with patent infringement and antitrust matters, insurance coverage disputes arising out of alleged pharmaceutical product defects, and general products liability and restrictive covenants. In the area of clinical laboratory defense, she has defended clients in varying disciplines including cervicovaginal cytology (Pap smears), anatomical and clinical pathology, dermatopathology, clinical and forensic toxicology, immunology, microbiology, genetic screening, clinical hematology and chemistry and phlebotomy.

As for criminal, civil and administrative matters in the health care industry, Ms. Zazzali-Hogan has represented health care providers involved with criminal investigations concerning, by way of example, the federal anti-kick back statute and has counseled providers regarding compliance issues. She has also assisted providers seeking reimbursement under government agency programs such as Medicaid.

Her practice occurs in both state and federal courts in various jurisdictions. Consistent with her practice, Ms. Zazzali-Hogan also serves as an adjunct professor for Seton Hall University School of Law's nationally-ranked health law program, where she earned a health law concentration in conjunction with her juris doctor degree.
