Property owners and developers in the Northeast region must navigate complex regulatory schemes on both the local and state levels to obtain the necessary approvals to develop and occupy property. Often, questions involving the sufficiency or validity of those approvals arise in the context of financing, corporate restructuring, bankruptcy, enforcement actions, government affairs counseling, and disputes involving business competitors, neighbors, community groups, or governmental entities.

This program is designed to provide an overview of the development approvals process in New Jersey and New York and highlight key areas where legal issues involving development approvals are likely to intersect with other practice areas. In addition, the speakers will alert attorneys to the very short appeal periods for challenging the issuance of certain government approvals and provide insight into actions in lieu of prerogative writs in New Jersey and Article 78 proceedings in New York.
